Zinc silicate crystals are formed at 2000f on an undulating sheet of clay. By slowly cooling zinc glazes, the chemicals are allowed to form crystalline structures; rings of color are created at different temperatures. The slanted clay surface directs crystal growth and utilizes gravity to influence the final concentration and geological pattern.
