Planetary Nests
MY MATERIALS:
My work incorporates blown glass, ceramic sculptures, glazed kiln bricks, and glory hole floors. I mix glaze formulas to control color and reactivity. I pour them into the hot glass and manipulate melting and cooling to create a range of textures. As I spin the pieces, materials drip onto the glory hole floor. I harvest these encrusted remains and use them as foundations for the vessels. Nesting in the environment from which they were born, these works echo metamorphic geology. My work that is an aggregation of forms which become landscapes of imaginary planets.

GROWING MY NATURAL FORMATIONS:
A sandscape erupts into a silica vessel that oozes ceramic glazes which fuse, melt, and crystallize. In the center, hot rocks fume under a glass lake and release salt gases that cause the liquid surface to swell into a sparkling dome. The finished work is a fossilized imprint of many processes that contains a living dimension.
